Quigley Down Under (1990)

Michael and Pax revisit the '90s classic about a sharpshooting cowboy (Tom Selleck) who teams up with a troubled woman (Laura San Giacomo) to fight a ruthless land baron (Alan Rickman) over his treatment of Aboriginal Australians.

There's also a quick review of the graphic novel The Grave Doug Freshley by Josh Hechinger and mpMann.

  1. I love this movie! Seen this a few times. This was right after Selleck finished Magnum P.I., which I watched religiously. Selleck did a few TV Westerns for TNT after this movie which were also great, Last Stand at Saber River ('97), Crossfire Trail ('20) and Monte Walsh ('03).
The cast in this movie was great. I love Alan Rickman in this movie. The Australian cast was also great in this movie, most of which I didn't recognize. They just played great unique characters rather than the usual bad guys you can't tell apart.

Tom Selleck has a lot of great scenes that make you like his character as the film progresses starting with the opening dock scenes.

Just an enjoyable western, even though it takes place in the Australian Outback.
