3 Godfathers (1948)

In this special holiday episode, Michael and Pax watch John Ford's adaptation of Peter B Kyne's Christmas Western novel, The Three Godfathers. Starring John Wayne, Pedro Armendáriz, and Harry Carey Jr.

Pax also watches a variety of Christmas episodes of TV Westerns and Michael catches up on a spooky Western, From Hell to the Wild West (2017), as well as Walter Hill's new film, Dead for a Dollar.

The Great Silence (1968)

Since we're heading into winter, Pax picked a snowy Western with Sergio Corbucci's The Great Silence starring Jean-Louis Trintignant and Klaus Kinski. 

Michael also catches up with some Halloween Westerns - Wesley Snipes in Gallowwalkers and Danny Trejo in Dead in Tombstone - while Pax gets Christmas cheer from Roy Rogers in Trail of Robin Hood.

The Valley of Gwangi (1969)

Michael and Pax stretch the definitions of both Western and Horror in this second Halloween pick, The Valley of Gwangi starring James Franciscus, Gila Golan, and Richard Carlson. And with visual effects by Ray Harryhausen.

But their Westernin' picks this month are full on horror-related as Pax reads Tim Seeley, Aaron Campbell, and Jim Terry's vampire comic West of Sundown, and Michael watches Sam Shepard's Western ghost story Silent Tongue and the super cheesy Teenage Monster.

The Pale Door (2020)

Pax and Michael celebrate the Spooky Season with Aaron B. Koontz'  witchy Western, The Pale Door.

Michael also watches another low-budget Western horror, Blackwood, and both fellas talk about the Predator prequel, Prey. And Pax shares his thoughts on Epix' new Billy the Kid series.

Michael and Pax watch the recent Western whodunnit, Murder at Yellowstone City, starring Isaiah Mustafa, Gabriel Byrne, Thomas Jane, Anna Camp, Zach McGowan, and Richard Dreyfuss. It's a mystery and we spoil it, so please watch the movie before listening to our discussion.

Pax also reads the next couple of Undertaker comics in his pile while Michael watches a couple of movies: the documentary Bitterbrush and Hell's Heroes, an early adaptation of the Three Godfathers story.

Pax and Michael watch the closest thing they could find to a Rat Pack Western with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in 4 for Texas, also starring Anita Ekberg, Ursula Andress, Victor Buono, and Charles Bronson. And an appearance by The Three Stooges.

The Ox-Bow Incident (1942)

Michael picks a classic that he and Pax have never seen. It's swift justice versus sure justice in William A Wellman's The Ox-Bow Incident, starring Henry Fonda, Harry Morgan, Dana Andrews, and Anthony Quinn.

Pax also reads Dead West by Rick Spears and Rob G, while Michael watches The Renegade Ranger (1938) starring Rita Hayworth and Tim Holt.

Slow West (2015)

Pax and Michael mosey through John Maclean's underwhelmingly named Slow West starring Kodi Smit-McPhee, Michael Fassbender, and Ben Mendelsohn. Is it more exciting than its title? Does it have issues with tone and symbolism? Mmmaybe.

Michael also watches The Beast of Hollow Mountain (1956) and Pax reads Wild West 3: Serial Scalper by Thierry Gloris and Jacques Lamontagne.

Hot Lead and Cold Feet (1978)

Michael and Pax complete their Disney Westerns marathon with Jim Dale, Don Knotts, Darren McGavin, and Jack Elam in Hot Lead and Cold Feet. Pax also watches a bonus Disney Western with The Castaway Cowboy while Michael discovers the Call of Juarez video games with Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin (1967)

Pax and Michael enjoyed last episode's Apple Dumpling Gang movies so much that they kept the Disney Western streak going with Roddy McDowall, Suzanne Pleshette, and Karl Malden in The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin. 

Michael also continued his Western History film project with 1937's Heroes of the Alamo, but Pax stayed on topic with a Disney Western comic: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad by Dennis Hopeless and Tigh Walker.
