The Violent Men (1955)

Thanks to a listener's suggestion, Michael and Pax watch Glenn Ford, Barbara Stanwyck, Edward G Robinson, and Brian Keith in Rudolph Maté's The Violent Men. The movie also features Dianne Foster and Richard Jaeckel. It begins with a couple of classic Western tropes, but takes them in surprising and dark directions.

  1. I knew of Glenn Ford mostly as a dramatic actor. As I've watched more of his films, I find he did all kinds of movies, westerns, noir, and dramas. He usually plays the understated tough guy. His westerns are also not the usual westerns, case in point, The Sheepman (1958). Very rarely do you see a Sheepman as the hero of a western, normally it's the rancher/cattleman.
I most know Richard Jaeckel from The Dirty Dozen as well as many Movie and TV appearances.
I really enjoyed this movie a lot.
