Love the podcast and loved your Tarzan podcast listening to it made go down a really fun Tarzan rabbit hole. Speaking of Tarzan that reminded me a western you guys might enjoy is Branded (1950) starring Alan Ladd, Charles Bickford, and Robert Keith among others. Directed by Rudolph Mate who directed the Violent Men (1955). But the reason why I mention Tarzan is that one the films screenwriters is Cyril Hume who wrote several of them and Branded seems like he might using some leftover ideas from Tarzan Finds a Son.
Christopher George turns up in a trio of John Wayne movies in that period. He's the gunfighter brought in to oppose Mitchem and Wayne in El Dorado. The turn he does in Chisum. And then as a companion of Wayne's in The Train Robbers.
For extended fist fights I think the gold standard is still Wayne vs Randolph Scott in "The Spoilers".

ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I didn't have Branded on my list for the show, but I do now! That sounds great, especially with the Tarzan connection.
ReplyDeleteNoel and I miss doing that Tarzan show. Hopefully one of these days we'll figure out how to get back to it.
