My Darling Clementine (1946)

Pax and Michael continue watching OK Corral movies with this acclaimed adaptation by John Ford starring Henry Fonda and Victor Mature.

  1. My favorite "OK Corral" or "Wyatt Earp" movies are Tombstone and Wyatt Earp (1994). But, for the classic versions, it would be Gunfight at the OK Corral (1957) and Wichita (1955) with Joel McCrea. I do enjoy My Darling Clementine more for Henry Fonda than for the Wyatt Earp story. Hour of the Gun was also good.
I haven't seen Frontier Marshal, so I'll have to find that one. I've been working through the Randolph Scott's movies I haven't seen, but he's done a lot of movies.

    Hi Pax and Michael!
Found this podcast a few months ago, and caught up as quickly as possible, listening to the episodes on movies I've watched (with the plan to go back and listen to the others once I watch them), and man, what a great podcast you guys do. As a fellow Western-lover, I appreciate the work you two put into each episode. Even when I disagree with your opinions, you're both so thoughtful as to what you're thinking and always trying to see other viewpoints!

Commenting on My Darling Clementine because it's quickly become one of my favorites—it's laconic but not without action. I love Fonda's portrayal of Earp, as someone who borders on the coming of civilization and of the violent lifestyles that Doc Holliday and the Clantons represent.

A few suggestions for movies I'd love to see you cover (I'm sure most of these have been requested already but oh well): Hostiles, Fort Apache, The Far Country, Angel and the Badman, and Evil Roy Slade.

    Keep up the great work!

  3. Thank you so much, Ryan! For the compliment, your thoughts on MDC, and the recommendations!

Hostiles has been on my list to get to for a while. You're helping push it higher. I'm also a fan of Angel and the Badman, so we need to get to that too. Far Country I haven't seen yet, but Pax and I are always up for Jimmy Stewart. And I hadn't even heard of Evil Roy Slade, but John Astin is an instant sell for me. That's going on the list too!
