Charro! (1969)

Pax and Michael discuss the world's prettiest cowboy, Elvis Presley in the Spaghetti-inspired Charro!.

Also, Michael has started a Western project on his blog inspired by the Stephen Ives documentary series, The West. And the fellas watch Don Knotts in The Shakiest Gun in the West, a 1968 remake of The Paleface.

  1. James Sikking is best known to me as the SWAT Lt. on "Hill Street Blues". You'll also find him in one of the Magnificent Seven sequels "The Magnificient Seven Ride" - the one with Lee Van Cleef as Chris. (I guess Yul and Lee are interchangeable between the Magnificent Seven and Sabata films?)

  2. I've never seen the two westerns that Elvis Presley did, this one and Flaming Star, until just now.
I liked the setup of this western and Elvis was good, but everything else in this movie was bad. There was little action until almost an hour into the film. The love interest, which I expected given that Elvis was the star, was virtually non-existent. This was very peculiar since in every Elvis film he is juggling multiple women. That alone would have made this film more watchable with the very attractive Ina Balin.
All in all, this was an ok movie that should have been better. I did enjoy Flaming Star much more.
