I've seen the cover recommended to me on Amazon, but I knew little about so I expected a typical big-budget western. I did not expect what I got in this film. I love the other westerns of Gregory Peck, but I did not like this film.

This movie had a great cast, but they were in a bad movie.
Jennifer Jones
I also have never seen Jennifer Jones in any other movie that I'm aware of. I think she did her best in this movie, but I did not like her character. I was generally disappointed by most of the cast. I've seen Peck and Cotton in other great movies. And the Hollywood royalty Barrymore, Huston and Carey were a bit underused, particularly Walter Huston.

Joseph Cotton
I concur with your comments about Joseph Cotton, why didn't he do more big films? I've seen The Third Mand, Citizen Kane and Touch of Evil. But, I really liked him in the westerns Two Flags West and The Last Sunset. With the exception of two or three other films, this is all I've seen of him.

Gregory Peck
I hated this character which makes sense because he is the villain. When he destroyed the train, I thought maybe we would finally get the brother vs brother that I wanted to see. But, when that finally happened, it was a major letdown and we never see Cotton on screen again.

I think the best part of the movie when Pearl and Lewt kill each other. That scene with Pearl on the horse with the rifle is what I thought I'd get in this movie.David Dupreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07357073622661909250noreply@blogger.com
