Lonesome Dove (1989)

In this Texas-sized episode, Michael and Pax cover the classic mini-series starring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, and a supporting cast as big as the story itself. Also: Pax reads Larry McMurtry's Buffalo Girls while Michael does something Westerny for Fathers Day and reads a Mickey Mouse Weird West comic.

  1. Can not comment too much on the Lonesome Dove miniseries since I have only seen it in bits - but have read the book.

I associate westerns with a character named July Johnston to the character played by George Kennedy in 1968's "Bandolero!". Which, interesting enough also includes a deputy named Roscoe. Said movie starring James Stewart, Dean Martin, and (#attractive) Raquel Welch as well.

  2. I knew that name sounded familiar, but figured I just remembered it from my previous viewing of Lonesome Dove. We watched Bandolero for the show not too long ago, so that's what I was thinking of. Thanks!

This has got me doing some digging. Looks like there may be a connection to a real person, but I need to look more deeply into it. This is awesome. Thanks again!
