Jonah Hex (2010)

Michael and Pax raise the corpse of the DC Comics box office flop to figure out if it's as bad as its reputation and maybe even how to fix it. Jonah Hex stars Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, and John Malkovich and was written (in part) by the notorious Neveldine and Taylor.

Pax also talks about the 1985 Jonah Hex comics reboot, Hex, and Michael wanders away from comics completely to review 1952's Bend of the River, starry Jimmy Stewart, Julie Adams, and Rock Hudson.

All this and Pony Express!

  1. Can't comment much on Jonah Hex since I am not a huge comics person, and I don't recall much from what I saw of the movie, Malkovich being Malkovich for the most part.

"Bend of the River" was one of the four Anthony Mann directed Jimmy Stewart westerns made between 1950 and 1955. I think you've already reviewed the first one, "Winchester '73". The others are "The Naked Spur" and "The Man from Laramie". All are good complex Jimmy Stewart characters and the plots are personal things and not world shaking events.

If you want some cheesier stuff than there is Burt Reynolds as an Indian in "Navajo Joe". Spaghetti to the core and some really bad dialogue and costumes.
